August Boorsma, age 87 of Randolph, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Saturday March 19, 2011, at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor in Randolph.
Augie was born on October 3, 1923 in Randolph, the son of Joseph and Hattie (Hoekstra) Boorsma. He was united in marriage to Marion Aalsma on March 27, 1946 in Waupun. He was employed for many years as a tanner with the Fred Rueping Leather Company in Fond du Lac. Locally Augie worked for Busse Brothers and Randolph Concrete. He enjoyed playing cards, and harvesting hickory nuts. Augie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him. He was a life long area resident, and a member of Living Hope Community Church.
Augie is survived by two daughters, Winneta (Duane) Cupery, Randolph; and Sharon Ter Beek, Hudsonville, MI; one son, Arlyn (Nancy) Boorsma, Grand Rapids, MI; fourteen grandchildren, Dan Cupery, Friesland; Dale (Tara) Cupery, Randolph; Randall Cupery and his special friend Stacey Curtiss, Pewaukee; Amy (Pete) Runhaar, Madison; Mike (Lisa) Ter Beek, Wyoming, MI; Craig (Lauri) Ter Beek, Baltimore, MD; Kathryn (Mike) Hall, Knoxville, TN; James Boorsma; Anthony (Anna) Boorsma, Grand Rapids, MI; Kristina, Mark, Jennifer, Jasmine, and Jessica Boorsma, Grand Rapids, MI. He is further survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Hope, Seth, Noah, and Gabe Cupery; Sam, Zac, Alysa, and Ava Runhaar; and Henry, Arie, and Graham Ter Beek; his sister, Hilda (Joseph) Wooton, Troy, MI; a sister-in-law, Katie Boorsma, Randolph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marion in April of 2010; a son-in-law, Barry Ter Beek; two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Boorsma; and his sister, Elizabeth Koopmans.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Living Hope Community Church, 740 West State Street, Fox Lake, with Rev. Verlan Van Ee officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Augie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 9 - 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Augie’s name to Randolph Christian School, 457 Second Street, Randolph, WI 53956.
Augie’s family extends appreciation and thanks to the staff of Continental Manor for their compassionate, loving care.
