Gerrit “Bud” Navis, age 85, of Waupun, went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Christian Home in Waupun, with his family at his side.
Bud was born on April 12, 1925 in Sanborn Iowa, the son of Ed and Effie (Elgersma) Navis. He was employed for thirty years at the Huth James Shoe Factory in Waupun. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping his dad make ornamental windmills. Bud was a beloved son and brother; a gentle, caring uncle and friend. His hobby was taking pictures and he has filled many albums with photos of family and local area events. He was a former member of Alto Christian Reformed Church, and a longtime, faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Bud loved singing hymns and he often recorded music and sermons to listen to over and over.
Bud is survived by his brother Wes and his wife Rachel Navis of Waupun; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters; Wilma Van Kleef, Jeanette Te Beest, and Marie Visser.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at First Christian Reformed Church, 20 Bly Street, Waupun with Rev. Norman Haan and Rev. Craig Van Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Alto Cemetery.
Bud’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial Fund has been established for Central Wisconsin Christian School and First Christian Reformed Church, both of Waupun.
