Verona Joyce Vossekuil

Verona Joyce Vossekuil, age 79 of Waupun, died peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, with family surrounding her.

Verona was born on July 15, 1931 in the Town of Byron, Fond du Lac County, WI, a daughter of William and Anna (Weasler) Wollenburg. Following her education, Verona was united in marriage to Leroy Vossekuil at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. She was employed for eighteen years with the Huth & James Shoe Factory of Waupun, and then Verona worked for Mercury Marine for twenty-three years. Verona was a loving wife, devoted mother and adoring grandmother, the family rock. She was proud of her family and very involved in their lives. Verona loved working outdoors, adored flowers and had a gift for maintaining plants and gardens. In her spare time, Verona enjoyed shopping and playing cards. She was an avid sheepshead player, and loved playing on the internet. Verona was a longtime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun.

Verona is survived by Leroy, her husband of sixty-two years, her son Dave Vosskuil, of Mayville, four grandsons; Kurt (Rhonda) Vossekuil, Brownsville, Kraig (Tonya) Vossekuil, McKiney, TX, Gary Vossekuil, Appleton, and Ryan (Maria) Vossekuil, Mayville, four great grandchildren; Michael, Claire, Carson, and Leah; her sister Delores (Junior) Stelsel, of Waupun, and her canine companion Suzie, “her little love”. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 525 West Main Street, Waupun, with Rev. Elizabeth Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

Verona’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.

Memorials may be directed in Verona’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
