Frank Joseph Philipsky, age 88 of Fond du Lac and formerly of Oakfield, died on Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Frank was born on October 4, 1922 in Campbellsport, a son of John and Katherine (Derackler) Philipsky. He entered into service with the United States Army in September of 1944, and was honorably discharged in August of 1946. On September 9, 1950, Frank was united in marriage to Charlotte Schmidt at St. Luke’s Ev. Church in Oakfield. He was a loving husband of over sixty years, and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Frank was employed with the John Deere Company for thirty years. He also worked for Michels Pipeline for a short time. Frank was a charter member of the VFW Post 8092 of Oakfield, and a volunteer for the Oakfield Fire Department for thirty years. Frank was a generous neighbor, often lending a helping hand at raking and mowing lawns, and shoveling snow. He also shared produce from his large garden with friends and family members. Frank enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing sheepshead. He was a loyal Wisconsin sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks. He was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Church in Oakfield where he formerly served on the council.

Frank is survived by his wife Charlotte, four children; Mary (James) Wiese, Fond du Lac, Nancy (Carl) Wangerin, Milwaukee, Darlene (Raymond) De Chant, Marshall, Thomas (Beverly) Philipsky, Lomira; Ten grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren, two sisters; Marge Bergman, Thorp, and Betty Lund, Oakfield; a sister-in-law, Delores Philipsky, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Adam Wiese, three sisters; Theresa (John) Kohl, Kathryn (Eugene) Mess, Ann (Norman) Anderson, four brothers; John (Agnes), Thomas, Albert (Elsie) and Carl Philipsky; and two brothers-in-law, George Lund and Peter Bergman.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 245 Second St., Oakfield, with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakfield Cemetery with military honors provided by the Oakfield VFW Post 8092.

Frank’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services.

A memorial fund has been established in Frank’s name.
