Marion J. Dethmers, age 81 of Waupun, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010, at her home.
Marion was born in St. Paul, MN on June 1, 1928 to Alfred and Nellie (Barney) Hansen. She graduated from Central High School in St. Paul, MN in 1946. She was married to Arnold Dethmers on May 28, 1948. She was employed in a restaurant and dry goods store. Marion was hired as the first woman crossing guard in the Waupun School District and also drove bus for children with disabilities for nineteen years. She was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church of Waupun.
Marion is survived by Arnold, her husband of sixty-one years; her son, Bruce and his wife Carol Dethmers of Estero, FL; her daughter Gail and her husband Paul Emery of Rocklin, CA; her grandson Brett Dethmers, of Pewaukee; and two granddaughters, Andrea Dethmers of Wauwatosa and Shelby Emery of Rocklin, CA. She is further survived by a sister, Phyllis Ramstrom, White Bear, MN, and many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Paul Hansen.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Trinity Reformed Church, 521 S. Madison St., Waupun, with Rev. Bruce Wilterdink officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens.
Marion's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, April 19, 2010 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
