Lillian was born on July 25, 1927 in Waupun, a daughter to Henry and Violet (Koehler) Derksen. As a child she attended local schools and spent much time with her dear friend Millie Van Buren. Lillian was employed at the Shoe Factory for several years following her education. On November 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald J. Den Hartigh at her parent’s farm. Lillian worked hard as a mother of nine children. She always managed a large garden. She was a charter member of the Netherland Reformed Church, which her father started, and she was formerly active in the Ladies Aid. During the time the church had its own school, Lillian volunteered her time. In later years, she enjoyed delivering meals-on-wheels. Lillian loved to read the Bible. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends.

Lillian is survived by her eight children, Linda (Al) Ballenger, Hendersonville, TN; Mark (Mary) Den Hartigh, Golden Valley, MN; Michael Den Hartigh, Laurie (David) Greenfield; Lana (Mark) Navis; Lisa Alvarez; David (Cheryl) Den Hartigh, and Beth (Dale) Andrew, all of Waupun; eighteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother Robert (Carol) Derksen; and three sisters, Gretchen Gelatt; Gladys Derksen; Shirley (Lee) Ross, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Sr., in October of 1993; her son Donald Jr., in September of 2009; her parents; two brothers, Richard and Clarence Derksen, and two infant twin sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Netherland Reformed Church, W10890 S. Frontage Road, Waupun, with burial to follow in Forest Mound Cemetery.

Lillian's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
