Robert Andrew Johnsen, age 82 of Waupun, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born on September 21, 1927 in Superior, WI, the son of Andrew and Merlyn (Sheff) Johnsen. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving from May of 1946 to February of 1949. On September 10, 1949, he married Shirley Ulvi in Superior, WI. Robert worked up north for the railroad for many years. He was a prison guard at the Gordon State Camp for thirty years. A true outdoorsman, he loved hunting, trapping, and especially fishing. Robert truly enjoyed outdoor activities with his sons-in-law and grandsons. He was a popular assistant coach for the Lomira High School football team for four years when his grandson played. Playing video poker was a favorite pastime. Robert enjoyed a long retirement that involved much traveling, visiting every state in the United States. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League and Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post 347 of Lomira.

Robert is survived by Shirley, his wife of sixty years; five daughters, Susan Johnsen and her husband Jonathan Gatlin, Stockton, CA; Karen Johnsen, Minneapolis, MN; Linda (Eugene) Bodden, Theresa, WI; Kathy (Joseph) Johnson, Hartford, WI; and Sandy (Charles “Stretch”) Tucker, MO; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leona St. John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Roy St. John

Following his request, there will be no services.
