Marie Ann McAuly, age 80 of Brandon, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.

Marie was born on June 16, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Alex and Gertrude (Kehl) Riviers. Following her graduation from Brandon High School, Marie attended business school in Milwaukee. On November 16, 1959, she was united in marriage to Neil A. McAuly in Green Lake County. She was happy to be a farmwife and homemaker, enthusiastically creating holiday traditions and special memories for her beloved family. Marie enjoyed flowers, and watching the birds and animals in nature. She was very artistic and could paint anything and bring it to life. She was especially gifted at charcoal drawings. Marie also loved crafting, creating a variety of gifts for her loved ones. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for Headstart and Brandon School for many years. Marie was a longtime member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, and participated in the Altar Society.

Marie is survived by four children, Cheri (Dale) Lemke, Jr., Oshkosh; William McAuly, Brandon; Jean (Elton) Westhuis, Jr., Ripon; Thomas McAuly, Brandon; six grandchildren, Neil (Shannon) Henning, Fond du Lac; Jeremy (Bardine) Henning, Eden; Damon (Heather) Brazzle; Jeremy (Morgan) Lemke; Sonya Torres-Lemke and her fiancé JC Fenzl; all of Oshkosh; Heather McAuly, Portage; fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Novak, Markesan; Patricia (Arnold) Grams, Brandon; Nancy Riviers, Vidalia, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Neil in 1995; an infant daughter, Theresa; her son, Joseph Arthur; her parents; and two brothers, Thomas and James Riviers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 102 West Bowen Street, Brandon, with the Rev. Michael Sturm officiating. A private family inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Marie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 1, 2010 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun; and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

A Memorial Fund has been established in Marie’s name.
