Mildred Martha Marie Mund, age 96, of Fox Lake and formerly of Milwaukee, died on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Continental Manor in Randolph, surrounded by her family.

Mitzi was born on December 31, 1913 in Birnamwood, WI, the daughter of Carl and Cora (Lemke) Roepke. Following her high school graduation she attended WI Teachers College in Milwaukee. On September 11, 1937, Mitzi was united in marriage to Monroe Mund in Birnamwood, WI. Mitzi had a love of music, and was musically gifted; teaching and sharing her gift with others her whole adult life. She played several instruments, especially enjoyed piano and organ. She was the Music Director for sixty years at Divine Charity Lutheran Church in Milwaukee where she attended. Recently Mitzi joined St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. She enjoyed her involvement with the Shorewood Light Opera Company for many years. Mitzi was a dedicated volunteer with WLCFS. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening.

Mitzi is survived by her daughter, Jane (David) Lienau, MI; her son John (Lorraine) Mund, Fox Lake; her daughter-in-law, Marcia (Bob) Ehrhardt, Oconomowac; nine grandchildren; Mark Lienau, MI; Gail (Brian) Adams, MI; Jennifer (Richard) VanLent, Netherlands; Tim (Anne) Mund, CT; Margaret Mund, CT; Scott (Maxine) Mund, CA; Kimberly (Jamie) Wolkenbright, CO; Rebecca (David) Marquardt, CO; James (Melissa) Mund, Beaver Dam; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Lemke, Wausau; one brother, Dr. Henry (Carol) Roepke, Elm Grove; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Tom Mund; two sisters, Dorthea Detje, Ruth Gimber; three brothers, Elton, Norman, and Newton Roepke.

A celebration of Mitzi’s life will be held 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 110 Edgelawn Drive, Fox Lake, with Rev. David Nottling officiating. Private family burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.

Mitzi’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

Memorials may be directed in Mitzi’s name for St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
