Nicolasa Torres, age 87, of Waupun and formerly of Randolph, joined our Father in heaven on Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Nicolasa was born on January 12, 1923 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the daughter of Encarnacion and Rebecca (Salinas) Castillo, She was united in marriage to Alfredo Torres, Sr. on March 16, 1936. After many years of traveling to Wisconsin for seasonal work and wintering in Texas, Nicolasa and family became permanent Wisconsin residents in 1955 when they settled in the Randolph area. She loved her family and enjoyed the tasks of taking care of them and homemaking. Nicolasa especially excelled at knitting, sewing, embroidery and quilting. Her beloved Alfredo preceded her in death after seventy-one blessed years of marriage. In recent years, she resided in Prairie Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Unit. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish of Fox Lake.

Nicolasa is survived by seven children, Connie (Alex) Ward, Milwaukee; Lydia Morris, Oshkosh; Mary (Ruben) Reyes, Waukesha; Emma (Tony Jay) Bos, Waupun; Felix (Jackie) Torres, Waukesha; Alfredo (Patty) Torres, Jr. Beaver Dam; Sandi (Gary) Schroeder, Waukesha; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Julia (Gregorio) Landeros; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Lemus; a son in infancy; two grandsons, Felix A. Reyes and Jeffery Hodgkins; a son-in-law, Rod Morris; her parents; and five siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 305 W. Green Street, Fox Lake, with Rev. Michael L. Wild officiating. A private family inurnment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery and Mausoleum in Waukesha at a later date.

Nicolasa’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed in Nicolas’ name to Annunciation Catholic Church.
