Kathryn Watters, age 87 of Friesland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Select Specialties Hospital in Madison.
Kathryn was born on March 29, 1923 to Andrew and Sarah (Haima) DeYoung.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Watters of Villa Grove, Illinois on January 18, 1947 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Kathryn farmed with her husband on the family farm just outside Friesland and was employed as an Executive Secretary at Cupery & De Young Storage, Friesland for 29 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church in Friesland and a member of the Dorcas Circle. She loved to read and sing. The greatest joys in her life were her Lord and Savior and her family. Her love, kindness, patience and endurance through her recent illness were truly an inspiration and wonderful example to her family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with. Her cheerful, kind and giving nature was a wonderful witness of her faith in the Lord.
Kathryn is survived by her children, James Watters, Friesland, Denise (Jerry) Vant Hoff, Friesland, Steven (Kristi) Watters, Stevensville, MT, and Mary Watters, Hudson, WI; four grandchildren, Darrin Vant Hoff, Friesland, Jodi (Jason) Burmania, Sun Prairie, Logan Knobel and Conner Knobel of Hudson; great-grandchildren, Carson and Molly Burmania; and her brother James (Ruth) DeYoung, Waupun; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Watters and Jane Grave, Danville, IL, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph, her husband of forty-seven years, a grandson, Brennan Watters, three brothers and sisters-in-law; Norman and Doris DeYoung, Mike and Thea DeYoung, Walter and Dorothy DeYoung.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at First Reformed Church, 107 E. Winnebago Street, Friesland, with Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Friesland Cemetery.
Kathryn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 8 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 South High Street, Randolph; and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial Fund is being established in Kathryn’s name.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Randolph and Markesan Nursing Homes, the Beaver Dam Community Hospital, and UW and Select Specialty Hospitals in Madison for their compassionate care given to Kathryn and her family.
