Salvador Arellano, age 85 of Randolph, died peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Sal was born on March 22, 1925 in Zacatecas, Mexico, a son of Jesus and Mercedes (Palacios) Arellano. Following his high school graduation, Sal continued his education in the Seminary and business school. He was united in marriage to Trini Diaz on December 27, 1948 in Aquascalientes, Mexico. In 1965, Sal immigrated to Cambria where he worked as a hired man in farming. His family moved to the village of Randolph in 1991. He was employed with Jung Seed Genetics in 1973, and was a faithful employee until his retirement at age 80. Sal loved to travel, especially to his beloved homeland. In the summers he could be found tending his large vegetable garden. He enjoyed playing bingo, attending Parish festivals, and spending time with his family. Sal rarely missed listening to or watching a Milwaukee Brewers game. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Sal is survived by his two daughters, Irma and her husband John Crescio, and Gloria and her husband William Slinger, both of Randolph; five grandchildren, Andy (Farrah) Slinger, of Lodi, Monica (Tyler) Missall, of Arlington, Tony, Alexandra, and Stephanie Crescio, of Randolph; one great granddaughter, Katelyn Missall; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Maria “Trini” Arellano on June 9, 2003; a son Salvador on May 28, 1953, and his parents, brothers, and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green Street, Fox Lake with Rev. Michael L. Wild officiating. Burial will be in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in Randolph.
Salvador’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 South High Street, Randolph.
