Rodney Merlin Waterworth, age 70 of Randolph, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rodney was born on the home farm in the Township of Courtland, Columbia County on February 29, 1940, a twin son to Merlin and Dorothea (Wrede) Waterworth. Following his graduation from the Randolph High School in 1958, he lived and worked on the family farm for his entire life. He was also employed at Huntley’s in Randolph. Rodney enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and gambling. He loved spending time on the farm tinkering with vehicles and farm equipment.
Rodney is deeply missed and survived by his three sons; Randy (Crystal) Waterworth of Randolph, Dennis (Nicole) Waterworth of Fox Lake, Terry (Martha) Waterworth of Madison; his daughter, Shari Schulz of Randolph; and eleven grandchildren, Bruce (Michelle Drake), Brandon, Cody (Tia Brown), Taylor, Trevor (Amber Ruenger), Mitchell, Dylan, Mackenzie, Dawson, Dillin, and Cooper, and one great-grandson Brayden. He is further survived by four brothers; Howard (Pam) Waterworth, Seabrook, Maryland, Kenneth Waterworth, Ronald (Joan) Waterworth, both of Randolph, and Dwayne (Janet) Waterworth, Columbus, and his sister; Delores (Mike) Friedrich of Randolph; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends, Kaye Janisch (special friend) and Puddles, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rodney’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 3 at the First Reformed Church 406 S. High Street, Randolph, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at First Reformed Church, 406 S. High Street, Randolph with Rev. Jeff Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Courtland Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established in Rodney’s name.
