Edna Rose Cupery, age 93 of Randolph, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor in Randolph.
Edna was born on May 18, 1916 in Friesland, a daughter of Fred and Della (Cupery) Posthuma. On September 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to Rudy Cupery in Friesland. Edna assisted her husband in farming and enjoyed her role as homemaker. She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Friesland Reformed Church, and was formerly active in the Dorcus Society and attended Bible Study Groups. She used her gift of music by singing in the choir, and also directed the Jr. Choir. Edna also taught Sunday School for many years. She and Rudy had a love for young people and opened their home to many, offering them work on the farm. Edna enjoyed being an Avon Lady for several years. She also had a passion for roses, and lovingly tended them. In 1975, Edna and Rudy retired to the Village of Randolph, and they enjoyed their winters in Florida.
Edna is survived by three children, Linda and her husband Jim Johnsgard, The Dalles, OR; Mark and his wife Joanne Cupery, Beaver Dam; and Sheryl Sjoerdsma, Rio, and her friend Ricky Lee; seven grandchildren, Rochelle (Andy) Budzinski; Christopher, Rudy, and Jara Sjoerdsma; Megan, Lindsay, and Nate Cupery; three great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Bryanna, and Riley. She is further survived by two sisters, Effie Braaksma, Friesland; Marion Banaski, Milwaukee; two brothers, George (Betty) Posthuma; Cliff (Leona) Posthuma, both of Waupun; and four sisters-in-law, Ruth Posthuma, California, Minnie Tobak, of Waupun; Rena Cupery and Margaret Cupery, both of Randolph, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rudy in 1994; her parents; her brother, Sam Posthuma; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Norman Braaksma; Duane Banaski; Herman Tobak; Sidney, Ben and Jenny Cupery, Harold and Leona Cupery; Gerben Cupery, and Ed and Rena Schreiber.
A Service to Celebrate Edna’s Life will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at First Reformed Church, 107 E. Winnebago St. Friesland, with the Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Friesland Cemetery.
Edna’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of services.
A Memorial fund has been established in Edna’s name for First Reformed Church of Friesland, and Autistic Society of America.
