Gladys Fern Lambert, age 85 of Randolph, and formerly of Pontiac, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor.

Gladys was born on April 7, 1925 in Pontiac, Illinois, a daughter of Harry and Margaret (West) Hendershot. She attended country school in Livingston County, Illinois. On February 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Earl Lambert in Pontiac. They farmed with Levi and Helen Lambert, Earl’s brother and Gladys’ sister, in Pontiac for many years prior to moving to rural Beaver Dam in the mid 1960’s, where they cash cropped. In 1972, they relocated to the village of Randolph. Gladys was employed at various businesses over the years including Weyenberg Shoe Factory, Sandknit of Fox Lake, and Brandon Inc. of Columbus. She was a loving wife and mother, who enjoyed homemaking, cooking, and sewing. Gladys was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandsons.

Gladys is survived by her son Doug and his wife Rita Lambert of Columbus; her grandson, Levi and his wife Jessica Lambert of Baraboo, and their sons Brent and Garrett; and her granddaughter, Sarah Lambert of Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; an infant son, William; two sisters, Alma (Vernon) Gates and Helen (Levi) Lambert; two brothers, Albert (Margery) Hendershot and Charles Hendershot.

Gladys’ family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 S. High Street, Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Martin Funeral Home, 413 North Main Street, Pontiac, IL; followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Livingston County, IL. A Visitation will be held on Friday at the Martin Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service
