Betty Louise Shoup, age 89 of Randolph, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Betty was born on February 3, 1921 in St. Johns, Michigan, the only child of Carl and Gertrude (Taylor) Hammond. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. John’s Michigan. On September 4, 1943, she married Harry Shoup in St. Johns, MI. They farmed in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin in 1953, where they continued farming until retiring to the Village of Randolph in 2001. Betty loved being a mother and grandmother, was proud to be a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing and baking. Betty had a gift of hospitality and enjoyed entertaining. The Word of God was very important to her and she spent much time studying it.
Betty is survived by her devoted son David; and her cherished grandchildren, Dennis Shoup, Jr.; Lora Shoup; Rebekah Shoup; and Anna Ebert. She is further survived by many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, in 2006; her son, Dennis Shoup, Sr., in 2005; and her infant daughter, Karen.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 S. High Street, Randolph. Pastor Levi Snyder from the Markesan Bible Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Betty’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Betty’s name.
