Alice Tamminga, age 86, of Randolph, was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital with her family by her side.
The visitation will be at Randolph Community Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. There will also be a visitation at First Reformed Church in Randolph on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at the church on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Benjamin Bruins officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery.
The former Alice Meekma was born on February 2, 1924 to George and Alice (Zylstra) Meekma in Randolph. On June 7, 1946 she was united in marriage with Ted Tamminga at First Reformed Church. Alice was employed for Weyenberg Shoe Factory for three years and for Elliot’s for several years. She was a volunteer election official for many years and a member of First Reformed Church where she was active in the church choir and a former member of the Ladies Aid Society. Alice loved being a homemaker, making beautiful floral arrangements for church services and enjoyed gardening and bowling. She was also a past member of the Randolph VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors are her four children, Mary (Patrick) Dunlap of Clifton, VA, Tom (Gloria) Tamminga of Randolph, Cheryl (Dale) Stone of Beaver Dam, and Randy (Marcia) Tamminga of Crete, IL, 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother, Ted (Evelyn) Meekma of Beaver Dam, one sister, Tillie (Alfred) Vander Werff of Randolph, sisters-in-law, Evelyn Meekma, Agnes Miller, Margaret Cupery, and Winnetta Braaksma, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, John, Arthur, George, William, Sam, and an infant brother, sisters, Betty Petrungaro, Mary Bender, and Catherine Koehn.
Memorials may be made in Alice Tamminga’s name to First Reformed Church of Randolph Memorial Fund.
