Marjorie Marcella Bresser, age 93 of Waupun, died on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center of Waupun.
Marjorie was born on April 27, 1916 in Alto, the daughter of Albert and Jennie (Bruins) Meenk. Following her formal education, she attended beauty school in Chicago. On October 18, 1940, Marjorie was united in marriage to Gilbert Bresser at Alto Reformed Church. She was employed by the Weyenberger Shoe Factory. Marjorie was a cook at Hopp’s Restaurant for many years and later baked pies for Helen’s Kitchen. Marjorie loved to travel with her husband. She enjoyed crocheting, was a seamstress and a gardener. Marjorie achieved the title of Tops Kops, reaching and maintaining her weight goal. She was an active charter member of Trinity Reformed Church of Waupun. Marjorie was a loving, giving person, volunteering her time for delivering meals on wheels and making quilts for gifts. She was a longtime sponsor of Christian Children’s Fund. In her later years, Marjorie enjoyed her stay at the Christian Home where she was voted 2007 Prom Queen.
Marjorie is survived by her three sons, Norris (Ann) Bresser, Cambria; Lynn Bresser and his significant other Carol Bassett, Janesville; Duane Bresser and his fiancé Donna Vick, Beaver Dam; her daughter Ellen (Robert) Downing, Park Falls, WI; a special niece, Marcia Graff, Waupun; Nine grandchildren; Andrea (Scott) Halbersma; Jennifer (Michael) Britt; Amy Bresser; Richard Bresser; Jason (Bridget) Bresser; Chad Bresser; Kelly (Sam) Olmsted; Eric (Beth) Hull; Missy (Max) Gritzmacher; fifteen great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Marion Bresser; Dorothy Meenk Van Ess; Margaret Meenk; and Hazel Meenk; other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; a daughter Kathleen Froelich in 2001; her parents; and three brothers, Marvin, Elton and Roy Meenk.
A Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Trinity Reformed Church, 521 S. Madison Street, Waupun, with Pastor Wick Hubers officiating. Burial will follow in Alto Cemetery.
Marjorie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun; and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Marjorie’s name.
