Clarence Henry Derksen, age 84 of Waupun; died at his home on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
Clarence was born on February 5, 1925 in Waupun, a son to Henry and Violet (Koehler) Derksen. He was a lifelong area resident and farmer. Clarence was united in marriage to Jeanette DeYoung on June 15, 1945 in Waupun. As the owner of Derksen Implement, Clarence was active in the business for over fifty years. He loved restoring old tractors, and attending antique tractor and steam engine shows. Clarence also owned many antique cars, and enjoyed restoring them. He diligently maintained his apple orchards. Clarence had a passion for trees, and has planted hundreds of trees for family and friends. Clarence was a lifelong member of Netherlands Reformed Church of Waupun, where he has served as Deacon.
Clarence is survived by Jeanette, his wife of sixty-four years; eight children, Mary Stalker, West Bend; Judy (John) Sytsma, San Antonio, TX; Roy (Carol) Derksen; Joyce (Doug) Stelsel; Russell (Cindy) Derksen; Roger (Janice) Derksen; Jane (Rollie) Bresser; and Ross (Evelyn) Derksen, all of Waupun; Thirty-four grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; his brother Robert (Carol) Derksen, Wis. Rapids; four sisters, Lillian DenHartigh; Gretchen Gelett; Gladys Derksen; and Shirley (Lee) Ross. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lucas Derksen in 1993; infant twin sisters; a brother, Richard Derksen; and a son-in-law, Jerry Stalker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Netherlands Reformed Church, W10890 South Frontage Road, Waupun. Burial will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery.
Clarence’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun; and on Friday at the church from 10:00 until the hour of service.
