Harriet Jane McCullough, age 91 of Waupun, died peacefully on September 27, 2009, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Harriet was born in Ladoga on July 18, 1918, a daughter of Emil and Hazel (Brow) Tank. On June 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Arnold McCullough at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. Harriet was a faithful wife, loving mother and devoted grandmother who enjoyed her role as homemaker. Being with her family gave her great joy. She also loved keeping a flower garden and tending to her houseplants. She was a collector of her treasured Christmas Village which she displayed year round. Harriet was also talented with embroidering. Her determined spirit allowed her to remain in her own home and continue to be active for ninety-one years.
Harriet will be missed and is lovingly survived by her three children, Darrell (Winnie) McCullough, Waupun; Dale (Maggie) McCullough, Madison; and Darlene (Brian) Dunn, Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Todd McCullough, Waupun; Brad (Rachelle) McCullough, Belleville; Melissa (Doug) Kampe, Phoenix, AZ; Christine (Kent) Emerson, McFarland; Scott (Stacy) McCullough, Stoughton; Quinn (Amanda Bohlman) Dunn, Oshkosh; Cullen Dunn; and Keara Dunn, both of Oshkosh; and five great-grandchildren, Megan Ring; Mallory Emerson; Kassi and Breanna McCullough, and Logan McCullough. Two sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCullough and Alice Tank; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold in 1985; her parents; four sisters, Nada Bronkhorst, Leora Urban, Sally Beekman, and Erna Bentley; two brothers, Albert Tank and Donald Tank; and a brother-in-law, Roy McCullough.
A Service to Celebrate Harriet’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with Rev. Rolf Amundsen officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Harriet’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Harriet’s name for the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
