Donald James Den Hartigh, age 41 of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home.
Don was born January 18, 1968 in Waupun, the son of Donald and Lillian (Derksen) Den Hartigh, the eighth of nine children. He graduated from Waupun High School the Class of 1986. Following graduation, Don was employed with Home Contractors and worked as a carpenter for several years. He was later employed with DB Reetz of Horicon where he became skilled as a professional finisher. Currently Don was the General Manager of Wood Boiler Solutions, LLC and Precision Chem Water Treatment. Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying bow hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeling. He did many of these activities with his son, and was also involved in the Boy Scouts. He was a loving son, devoted father, and beloved, compassionate brother and friend who was always available to help others. Don was a member of Edgewood Community Church.
Don is survived by his children, Dylan and Abigail, at home; his mother, Lillian Den Hartigh, Waupun; three brothers, Mark (Mary) Den Hartigh, Golden Valley, MN; Mike Den Hartigh, David (Cheryl) Den Hartigh, both of Waupun; five sisters, Linda (Al) Ballenger, Hendersonville, TN; Laurie (David) Greenfield; Lana (Mark) Navis; Lisa Alvarez; Beth (Dale) Andrew, all of Waupun. Don is also survived by Susan Den Hartigh, the mother of his children; and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father on November 2, 1993, and by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. September 25, 2009 at Edgewood Community Church, 201 Edgewood Drive, Waupun, with Pastor Roger Knowlton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery.
Don’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun; and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund is being established for Don’s children.
