Rosemary Raymond, age 79 of Markesan, died on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family.

Rosemary was born on August 1, 1930 in Oshkosh, a daughter to Arthur and Grace (Strong) Docter. She was raised in the Brandon area and graduated from Brandon High School with the Class of 1949. On June 1, 1951, she married Hubert “Ray” Raymond in Brandon. Rosemary was employed part-time at Bennett’s Grocery Store, and Robbins Plastic Company. Her priority was taking care of and raising her seven children. Rosemary enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. She also took pleasure in gardening; canning; and baking pies and chocolate cake. She worked hard to care for her family and was instrumental in the building of two homes. Many fond memories were shared by the family as they managed a paper route together for over thirty years. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish for fifty years.

Rosemary is survived by Ray, her husband of fifty-eight years; five children, Phyllis (Glenn) Bille, Token Creek, WI; Cathy (Tony) Bernath, Ripon; Hubert A. “Buck” (Amy) Raymond, Ripon; Mary Jo (Marty) Salkowski, Waupun; and Todd (Lisa) Raymond, Fort McCoy. She is further survived by fifteen grandchildren, Johnette Grams; Bob Jacobs; Dawn Hopfensperger; Travis Bernath; Angie Bernath; Joe Raymond; Tony Raymond; Vicky Raymond; Dan Sheahan; Ranea Salkowski (Adam Foster); Martin Salkowski III; Kirstin Salkowski; Kyle Raymond; Brianna Raymond; and Justin Nally; Seventeen great-grandchildren, Ridge; Colten; Blaze; Derby; Riley; Brandon; Michael; Alexis; James; Jake; Max; Alex; Conner; Jordon; Alex; Taylor; and Sage. Three brothers, James (Marie) Docter, Brandon; Gordon (Sandy) Docter, Fond du Lac; Joe (Sandy) Docter, Ripon; and one sister, Evelyn (Butch) Berndt, Markesan; Sister-in-law, Mary Kehrmeymer Docter, Waupun; brother-in-law, Phoebian Nighbor, Menominee Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Raymond in 1985, and Brian Raymond in 1998; one brother, Arthur Docter; and a sister, Beverly Nighbor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green Street, Fox Lake, with the Rev. Michael Wild officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Fox Lake. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services.

A Memorial Fund has been established in Rosemary’s name for Annunciation Catholic Parish.

“The family would like to give thanks to God for allowing them to have the gift of this last year and the treasured time they had with Rosemary, and to express their appreciation to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, and physicians Dr. Alan Lozier, Dr. Roy Kim and Dr. James Nosal.”
