Ruth Charlotte Weisshahn, age 89 was called home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Christian Home of Waupun.
Ruth was born April 2, 1920 in Athens, Wisconsin the daughter of Frederick and Lydia (Zarling) Preibe. Following Ruth’s education, Ruth worked as a housekeeper and cook for a doctor’s family in the Hortonville and Appleton area before she was united in marriage to Elmer Werner. The couple resided in the Beaver Dam area where they owned and operated their dairy farm, where Ruth became well known for her chickens. Ruth later was united in marriage to Richard Weisshahn on August 10, 1968 in Beaver Dam. They moved to the Appleton area where Richard was employed with a construction company for thirty years. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who totally enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren. She was a 4-H clothing leader; she was formerly employed as a clerk with Hortonville Toy Manufacturing, the Model Women’s Clothing Store in Beaver Dam and also with Western Dodge Cooperative. Ruth was very creative with ceramics, cross stitching and crocheting and was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Waupun and a past member of St. Paul’s Ev.Lutheran Church, of Dale, Wisconsin where she was a member of the couple’s club of the church.
Ruth is survived by her son, Carl (Bonnie) Werner, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Gail Werner, McAlestor, OK; Paul Werner, Waupun; Karla (Dean) Zimmerman, Fox Lake; Wendy (Aaron) Zuhlke, Pardeeville; and Erin Krueger, Waupun; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Cody and Devin Zimmerman, Mikayla Tomasi, Paige and Logan Zuhlke, three sisters, Esther Sontag, Norfolk, VA; Edna Luedeke, Oshkosh; and Margaret Marotz, Sheboygan Falls, a brother, Edwin (Elaine) Priebe, Ripon; four sisters-in-law, Eunice (Arly) Doell, Greenville; Gloria Weisshahn, Appleton; Margaret Franks, AZ; and Henrietta Olson, of Oregon.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband’s, a daughter, Ann Krueger, a son-in-law, Don Krueger, a granddaughter, Donna Rae Krueger, three brothers, Fred, Martin and Walter Priebe, and three sisters-in-law, Margaret, Ruth and Madelyn Priebe, and her parents.
A celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 113 County Park Road, Waupun, with the Rev. Christopher Doerr officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Ruth’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, at the church from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
