Milton Henry Krohn, age 90 of Waupun and formerly of Brandon, died peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Christian Home Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Milton was born on February 21, 1919, in the Town of Springvale, Fond du Lac County, WI; a son of Henry and Anna (Raube) Krohn. He was an area resident his entire life, living on a farm on County Road T near Brandon for over eighty years. Milton was united in marriage to Virginia Vande Zande on August 28, 1941 in the Parsonage of the First Reformed Church in Waupun. They operated the family dairy farm until moving to the City of Waupun in 2005. Milton was a member of the Amity School Board for several years, serving during the time when the school was built. He was an assessor of the Town of Springvale for over thirty-eight years. As a longtime member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon, he formerly served the congregation in the office of Elder and Deacon. Milton was also the Chairman of the Building Committee when the church was constructed. He enjoyed visiting with people and also loved playing cards with family and friends.
Milton is survived by Virginia, his wife of nearly sixty-eight years; five children, Gini (Lee) Ellens; Keith (Sharon) Krohn, both of Brandon; Marlyn (Micki) Krohn of Waupun;
Susan Krohn, and Rosanne (Craig) Bresser, both of Brandon; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Norman Brown; two sisters, Margaret Krohn, and Viola Hare and her husband, Norman; and his brother, Arnold Krohn.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Christian Home Chapel, 331 Bly Street, Waupun, with Chaplain Wick Hubers officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Cattaraugus Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Christian Home Chapel from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Milton’s name to a charity of choice.
