Mildred Josephine Flier, age 85 died peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Millie was born April 17, 1924 in the Town of Alto, the daughter of John and Jennie (Looman) Ter Beest. Mildred was a wonderful and caring wife for Sixty-five years, a grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to everyone. She attended area schools and later was employed with National Rivet of Waupun for several years. Mildred was united in marriage to Edward Flier on September 24, 1943 in Waupun. Following their marriage, Millie enjoyed helping her husband Ed farm in the Town of Trenton for forty-five years. They retired from farming and moved to the City of Waupun, where they resided together until her death on Sunday. Mildred was also a wonderful cook, gardener and enjoyed pencil sketching. She was a long time member of the First Reformed Church of Waupun.
Mildred is survived by her loving husband, Edward and their four children; Donna (Hal) Freriks, Harlan (Sandy) Flier, both of Waupun; Marcia (Larry) Medema, Appleton; Debra (Chuck) Bille, Waupun; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Millie was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, a brother, Andy Ter Beest and her parents.
A service to celebrate the life of Mildred will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 from the First Reformed Church, 422 W. Franklin Street, Waupun with the Rev. Paul Wernlund officiating. Interment will follow in the Alto Cemetery. Mildred’s family will receive relatives and friends at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and again at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
A memorial fund is being established in Mildred’s name.
