Jean E. Vande Zande, 84 of Waupun, died peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Jean was born on December 20, 1924, in Alto to William and Esther (Neevel) Glewen. On April 2, 1949 she married Lauren Vande Zande, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2008. Jean was a graduate of Fond du Lac Business College and was employed by the National Bank of Waupun prior to her marriage. She was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church of Waupun, where she was active in the Women’s Guild and served as a Sunday School and Bible Class teacher. Jean was a devoted Christian and a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by her children, Calvin (Char) Vande Zande of Waupun; Dorie (Bill) Mayes of Waxhaw, North Carolina; Mary (Doug) Scholten of Buena Park, California; and Paul (Wendy) Vande Zande of Waupun. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Helen Zoellner, and Irene (Larry) Ruesink, both of Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Velma Gartner; and a brother, Lester Glewen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church, 521 South Madison Street, Waupun. The Rev. Calvin J. Vande Zande and the Rev. Douglas A. Scholten will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery.
Jean’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A Memorial fund has been established for Wycliffe Bible Translators.
