Henry White, Jr., age 85 of Fox Lake, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Golden Living Center – Continental Manor of Randolph, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Henry was born on December 5, 1923 in Trenton Township, a son to Henry and Hattie (Lewis) White. Henry grew up in the Fox Lake area and worked on the farm with his father. As a young man he excelled in baseball as a pitcher, and played in amateur area leagues. On June 5, 1946 he was united in marriage to Margaret Posthuma in the First Reformed Church of Randolph. He remained a dairy farmer all his life, raising his family on the farm in the Fox Lake area. He belonged to the Wisconsin and National Holstein Association for many years. Henry was a life long member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fox Lake where he previously served as both Elder and Deacon. His natural athletic abilities were fulfilled thru bowling and hunting. He enjoyed horse racing and was an avid Packer fan. Henry was an excellent pool player and entered tournaments with his granddaughter in his later years. He really cherished time spent with his family, enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to family dinners. Christmas was a special time when he enjoyed being with everyone and giving gifts.

Henry is survived by Margaret, his wife of sixty-two years; two sons, Larry and his wife Jan White of Waupun; Al and his wife Mary White of Fox Lake; and his daughter-in-law, Debra White of Fox Lake; six grandchildren, Rev. Paul (April) White; Chelsea White; Danielle (Charles) Gauger; Trisha (Terry) Posthuma; Michael (Faye) White; and Stephany White; ten great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Derek and Jeremy Harmsen. He is further survived by three brothers, Orien White, Waupun; Edward (Elaine) White, Ripon; Richard (Connie) White, Waupun; two sisters, Carol Strehlow, Fairwater; Audrey (Donald) Buettner, Beaver Dam; and three sisters-in-law, Audrey White, Green Lake; Evelyn (Jerry) Lively, Beaver Dam; and Winnetta Braaksma, Randolph.

He was preceded in death by his son Dennis White in 2002; parents; four brothers, Robert, Donald, James, and Kenneth White; six sisters-in-law, Marie, Shirley, Myrtle, and Alice White; Juliette and Leona Posthuma; and three brothers-in-law, Henry Posthuma, Norris Tamminga, and Walter Braaksma.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with the Rev. Vivian Meier officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 206 College Avenue, Fox Lake, WI 53933; and for Hillside Hospice, 709 S. University Avenue, Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
