Marion Ter Louw, age 86 of Brandon, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Marion was born on February 12, 1923 in Floyd Township, Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Rev. John S. and Henrietta (Van Der Hart) Ter Louw. Five years later his mother passed away and his father later married the children’s aunt and loving second mother, Annett Van Der Hart.
Marion attended schools in Waupun, Grand Rapids, MI; and South Holland, IL. He graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa; he also attended Mexico City College in Mexico and Brigham Young University in Utah. Marion taught algebra in the Chicago School district, and also worked in the steel mills in South Chicago.
Marion served his country during World War II with the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in Germany, where he was in the Trail Blazers infantry on the front lines where he sustained war injuries. On April 7, 1955 he married Marion Winterheck in the Alto Reformed Parsonage. Marion reenlisted and served four years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958. “Mr. and Mrs. T” lived in Brandon, WI for fifty years and he was employed at Mercury Marine for thirty years.
Marion is survived by Marion, his wife of fifty-three years; his daughter Marianne Ter Louw and her husband Andy Gustafson of Columbia Heights, MN; two brothers, Rev. John (Jane) Ter Louw, Tallahassee, FL; Gary (Rae) Ter Louw, Temple, TX; two sisters, Cornelia (Rev. Henry) Poppen, Orange City, Iowa; Etta (Rev. Dr. John) Hesselink Holland, MI; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Bea) Winterheck, Boerne, TX; Andrew Rozenbom, Steen, MN; nieces, nephews, and many friends that he loved so dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mildred Rozenbom.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
