David Lynn Pluim

David Lynn Pluim, age 74 of Waupun, died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 20, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on November 28, 1934 in Waupun, a son to Arnold “Bum” and Grace (Konings) Pluim. He was a lifelong area resident, and after attending local schools was employed at the Ideal Shoe Factory. On June 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to Delores Kuik in Waupun. David began working on the dock of Bird Trucking, and eventually was employed as a truck driver. He was later employed by Waupun Supply for fifteen years until 1999 when he retired. Following his retirement, David drove part-time for Waupun Truck and Smedema Trucking. As a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church, David was a former Deacon.

David is survived by Delores, his wife of fifty-four years; six children, Lois (Gary) Ring and their children Aaron and Cory; Janet (Gary) Beek and their children Ivan (Leslie) Beek and their son Gavin, Irvin (Kristina) Beek and their daughter Olivia; Benjamin and his fiancé Jessica Norton, and her children Casey and Sierra; David (Jane) Pluim II and their children MaryBeth, David III, and Thomas; Arnold “Bum” (Barbara) Pluim, and their son Jimmy (Maria) Reynolds and their son Devan; Leah (Brent) Nummerdor and their children Jared and Samantha; Rachel (Larry) Marchand and their children Nicholas and Kendra. He is further survived by his brother Ronald Pluim and life partner Maureen Hlavacek; his sister Mary Ann (Richard) Tank; his uncle Gary (Florence) Pluim; and two aunts, Alice (Burt) Larson and Josephine Konings; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kay, and a great grandson, Blake Beek in infancy.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Netherlands Reformed Church, the corner of W10890 South Frontage Road and Oak Center Road, Waupun; with Rev. Evert Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Alto Cemetery.

David’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 23, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun; and at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in David’s name for Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope, 239 Trowbridge Drive, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
