Beatrice Mary Dorn, age 84 of Waupun, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Golden Years Living – Continental Manor in Randolph, surrounded by her loving family.

Beatrice was born on March 17, 1924 in Lake Beulah, WI, a daughter of George and Dorna (Badinger) Grundmann. She was a graduate of Elkhorn High School, and attended Racine – Kenosha Normal School in Union Grove to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught elementary students for the rural Elkhorn School District for several years. On May 29, 1948, Beatrice married Arnold A. Dorn in Elkhorn. They managed their dairy farm for many years in the Hartford area. As a farmer’s wife, Beatrice was busy with chores, gardening, canning, and sewing. She was active as 4-H leader and a Sunday School Teacher. Following their retirement, the Dorn’s moved to Texas for a number of years and returned to Wisconsin in 2005. Beatrice was a member of Pella Lutheran Church where she was involved in the quilting group. Many of her quilts were donated to charities around the world. She also enjoyed needlework and embroidering.

Beatrice is survived by Arnold, her husband of sixty years; six children, Carl (JoAnn) Dorn; Dahlonega, GA; Diane Goeltz, Green Bay; Edna (Robert) Noldan, Randolph; Frederick Dorn, Hartford: Gregory Dorn, (special friend, Lori Kannenburg) Cathedral City, CA; Harvey (Kathy) Dorn, Johnson Creek; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Eistedt, Elkhorn, sisters-in-law, Joyce Cost; Marion Dorn, both of Elkhorn; and Betty Grundmann, Viroqua, WI; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother George Grundmann, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Robert Eistedt and Eugene Cost.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009 at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 South Madison Street, Waupun. Rev. Kenneth Loehrke and Rev. David Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the Automatic External Defibrillator Fund at Pella Lutheran Church.
