Kenneth James Marschie

d. December 25, 2008

Kenneth James Marschie, age 76, passed away on December 25, 2008 at his home in Fond du lac, WI.

Kenneth was the beloved son of Peter and Elizabeth (Wolf) Marschie, born on November 2, 1932 in Grant County, Wisconsin. At 18 years old he started at the Ripon Cookie Factory until he was called to serve his country in 1953 in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from Korea, he resumed his employment at the Ripon Cookie Factory until retiring in 1975. He enjoyed traveling and helping out on his brother Glenn’s farm whenever he could. He also cherished the times spent with his nieces and nephews.

Kenny loved to read, reading the Bible seven times from cover to cover; an entire set of encyclopedias A to Z; the Wisconsin State Statues and, of course, the Webster Dictionary. He was an excellent speller and often quizzed his nieces and nephews on spelling words. Along with his love of learning, he also enjoyed music and was self-taught on the piano and accordion, thou he was shy about playing in front of people. When visiting Kenny, Mozart or Beethoven would be playing on the old record player.

Kenneth is survived by his brother Glenn (Sara) Marschie of Brownsville; two sisters, Doris (Wayne) Schwark, Marion Jaremba, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Marschie, all of Waupun. He is further survived by twenty-four nieces and nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Marvin Marschie; his brother-in-law, Leo Jaremba; and a niece Shanna Marschie.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with the Rev. Robert Love officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Cemetery in Oakfield, WI.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 11 a.m. until the hour of services. A memorial fund has been established in Ken’s name.

“A special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Harbor Haven for the tender care given to Kenny.”
