Leonard Gordon Block

Leonard Gordon Block age 79, died peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Sheltered Village of Ripon.

Leonard was born on January 15, 1929 in rural Fairwater, the son of Gordon and Cora (Fenske) Block. He moved to the village of Fairwater with his mom in 1960 and later to Fond du Lac in 1968. Leonard moved to the Sheltered Village of Ripon shortly after it opened in the mid-1980’s. He enjoyed listening to the radio, music and going to story time at the village.

Leonard is survived by his loving brother, Carl (Marion) Block, Fairwater; three nieces, Sheryl (Michael) Block-Krause, Ripon; Karen (Jeffery) Schultz, Fond du Lac; and Karla (Todd) Schmuhl, Brandon; a grandnephew, Dylan Block-Krause, and two grandnieces, Kea Schmuhl and Libby Block-Krause.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service for Leonard will be held 11a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun with the Rev. Scott Ehle officiating. Interment will follow in South Wood Cemetery in the Town of Alto. Leonard’s family will receive relatives and friend on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

A memorial fund is being established in Leonard’s name, for the Sheltered Village of Ripon, Zion Lutheran Church of Fairwater, or the Fairwater Historical Society.
