Magdalen Marie Farnsworth

Magdalen Marie Farnsworth, age 83 and formerly of Waupun, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the University Hospital in Madison, with her daughters at her side.

Maggie was born on September 16, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Valinske) Griffin. She attended local schools and graduated from the Waupun High School. On July 18, 1949, Maggie was united in marriage to Edward Farnsworth at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In addition to enjoying her homemaking responsibilities, Maggie was employed at the Teeples Shoe Factory for many years. She was a loyal parishoner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Alter Society. She also belonged to the Third Order of Fransciscan. Maggie delighted in her daughters, and enjoyed other children as she taught Catechism and cooked for students at St. Joe’s Catholic School. She was active in the American Legion Auxillary. Maggie was a longtime resident of Waupun until she moved to Fitchburg in December 2006 to be near her daughters. In her spare time Maggie enjoyed needlepoint, puzzlebooks, and playing cards with her card club.

Maggie will be sorely missed and is lovingly survived by her daughters, Kathleen Farnsworth, and Teresa Farnsworth, both of Fitchburg, WI. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Gene and Bonnie Rohrbeck, Casper, WY; Eldene Larson and Clare White, Rochester, MN; and Ray and Linda Rohrbeck, Fall River, and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Sturm officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m on Friday, October 10, 2008 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with a Prayer Service at 7:30.

A Memorial fund has been established in Maggie’s name.
