Boyd Arnold Bader, age 86 formerly of Waupun, died peacefully early Monday morning, August 18, 2008, with his family by his side at the Columbus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Boyd was born October 3, 1921 in the Township of Fountain, New Lisbon, Wisconsin, the son of Arthur and Blanche (Mellor) Bader. He attended area schools and then served his country with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was united in marriage to Leona Retzlaff February 10, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus. Leona preceded him in death on March 31, 1994. Boyd then remarried on June 17, 1995 to Margaret (Schroeder) Tiedt. The couple resided together in Columbus until Boyd’s death on Monday. He was formerly employed by McKay nursery of Waterloo, WI for ten years and Bird Trucking of Waupun for twenty-four years as a truck driver retiring in 1981. He was a member of Pella Lutheran Church of Waupun, Zion Lutheran Church of Columbus and the Getchel-Nelson American Legion Post #210 of Waupun. Boyd had a real love for his family, and enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years before his health kept him home in Wisconsin.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Margaret of 13 years; his children, two daughters, Bernice (Dennis) Schultz; and Bonnie (Thomas) Streblow, both of Waupun; four sons, Roger (Judy) Bader, Beaver Dam; David (Cheryl) Bader, Juneau; Daniel Bader, Reeseville; and Randy (Joan) Bader, Fond du Lac; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Donna) Bader, Janesville; Clifford (Virginia) Bader, Mauston, Wisconsin; and one step-son Chuck (Rose) Tiedt, Columbus.
Boyd was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; three sisters; a brother; and one step-son.
A Celebration of Boyd’s life will be held 1:00 p.m on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 South Madison Street, Waupun, with the Rev. Kenneth Loehrke and Rev. David Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Boyd’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the church until the time of service.
A Memorial Fund is being established in Boyd’s name.
