Bernice Mae Pater, age 77 of Waupun, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 06, 2008 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living.
Bernice was born on September 30, 1930 to Edward and Lottie (Hiller) Pettack in the Town of Trenton. She attended area schools, graduating from Waupun High School in 1948. On November 22, 1952 she married Wallace G. Pater, and they lived in Waupun all their married life. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1991. Bernice worked at the Shaler Company from 1948 until 1954. She was a lifelong, faithful member of Pella Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown. She was very interested in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing sheepshead with the other residents of Prairie Ridge and having cappuccino with friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan and his wife Carol; Robert and his wife Cheryl; Eight grandchildren, Sarah Harteau; Luke (Angie); Lottie; Johanna; Jake ane Paul, Andrew, and Bryan Pater; all of Waupun. Great-grandchildren include Hailey and Dustin Pater; and Peyton and Landen Harteau. She is also survived by a brother, Lester Pettack and his wife Audrey of Green Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son David, and a brother, Milton Pettack.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 South Madison Street, Waupun, with the Rev. David Stevens offiating. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the church on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial has been established in Bernice’s name.
