Elmer A. Werner, age 89 of Waupun, died on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center of Waupun.
Elmer was born on January 3, 1919 in the Town of Trenton, the son of Carl and Augusta (Schultz) Werner. He attended school thru the 7th grade and from then on he farmed on the family farm. In about 1962 he moved to a farm in Brownsville and farmed in the area until 1965, when he became the owner/operator of the Lamartine Bar until 1984. Elmer has resided in Waupun since 1984, and was just recently admitted to the Christian Home. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, and picking raspberries and apples, which he shared with many of his friends and neighbors.
Elmer is survived by his son, Carl (Bonnie) Werner of Beaver Dam; his first wife Ruth Weisshahn of Waupun; five grandchildren; Gail Werner, OK; Paul Werner, Waupun; Karla (Dean) Zimmerman, Fox Lake; Wendy (Aaron) Zuhlke, Pardeeville; Erin Krueger, Beaver Dam. He is further survived by six great-grandchildren, Andy; Cody; Devin; Mikayla; Paige; and Logan; one sister, Edna Dinkel, Juneau; many stepchildren and step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Genivive Werner; his daughter Ann, and his son-in-law Don Krueger; his parents, three brothers, Walter, Carl and Ed Werner; two sisters, Clara Bonner and Ella Koehler; an infant granddaughter Donna; and a step-daughter Judy Zwicky.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with the Chaplain Wick Hubers officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
