Edward Aalpoel, age 82 and formerly of Brandon, was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 28, 2008 from the Markesan Resident Home.

Edward was born on December 7, 1925 in the Town of Alto to John and Dena (Flier) Aalpoel. He was married on May 20, 1948 to Marjorie Daane at Alto Christian Reformed Church and they celebrated sixty years of marriage this year with family and friends. Edward was a farmer in the Waupun area until 1955. He was then employed with Purity Cheese as an operator for twenty-nine years. Edward was a quiet, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who used his woodworking skills to create gifts for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed and was skilled at fixing things. As a member of First Reformed Church of Waupun for many years, he was honored to serve his Lord as an elder of the church.

Edward is survived by his wife Marjorie; four children, Nanci (Rich) Davies; Lynda Harmsen, both of Brandon; Brian (Linda) Aalpoel, Neenah; Renae (K.C.) Schuler, New London; twelve grandchildren, Troy Davies; Jamison (Tawnya) Davies; Jessica (Ben) Geisthardt; Heather (Mike) Wegner; Andrea (Joe) Megna; Melissa (Jared) Hoinacki; Amanda, Sara, and Alison Aalpoel; Aaron, Matthew, and Rachel Schuler. He is further survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandra, Alissabeth, Adrianna, Chase, Jacob, Taylor, Macie, Bella, Zachary, Dawson, and Jack; his brother, John (Helen) Aalpoel, Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nathan Schuler; a son-in-law, Larry Hartgerink; and two sisters, Henrietta Schouten and Johanna Aalpoel.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street, Waupun, with Rev. Rick Boon officiating. Burial will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun, and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
