Ethel Emmer

Ethel Emmer, age 86 of Markesan, formerly of Waupun, died peacefully Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Markesan Resident Home.

Ethel was born January 21, 1922 in Askov, Minnesota, a daughter to Soren and Olga (Wilke) Pederson. She was united in marriage to Michael Emmer on April 19, 1947 in Kasson, Minnesota. Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother who made her family and grandchildren her priority. Ethel was an avid reader and also took pleasure in gardening and fishing. She was a devoted member of Pella Lutheran Church.

Ethel is survived by three children Beverly (Dean) Kohl, Waupun; Avy LeGear, Appleton; Sylvia Emmer, Fond du Lac; eighteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Two daughter in-laws Sharon Emmer and Carol Emmer, both of Fond du Lac; one step-son Wayne Emmer, Sheboygan; one sister Sylvia Campbell, Seal Beach, CA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; her parents; a son John Emmer; and a stepson Walter Emmer; one brother and one sister.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison Street, Waupun with the Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

A Memorial Fund has been established in Ethel’s name.
