Elva Bessie Mickelson, age 84 of Waupun, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at the Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Elva was born on November 18, 1923 in the Town of Fox Lake to Herman and Elsa (Marohl) Drews. After her graduation from Randolph High School in 1940, she attended Business School in Milwaukee and worked for the Federal Government. She was later employed as a teletype operator in Madison. On June 5, 1943, Elva was united in marriage to Arthur Voss at the County Line Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1965. She married Theron (Mike) Mickelson on November 18, 1981. Elva lived in the area for most of her life, and locally was employed as a Program Assistant for the Fox Lake Correctional Institution, retiring in April of 1982. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother enjoying all of her children, step-children and their families. She also took pleasure in bowling, golf, crossword puzzles and gardening. Elva’s intelligence, humor, and wit were enjoyed by those who knew her. She was a member of the Pella Lutheran Church.

Elva is survived by Mike, her husband of twenty-six years; one son, Richard (Denise) Voss, Plymouth; four daughters, Diane (David) Wilkinson, Deerfield; Donna (Keith) Bruins, Brandon; Debra (Donald) Towne, Waupun; Valerie (Arthur) Nummerdor, Waupun; One granddaughter; ten grandsons; fifteen great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Mickey Veleke; Marsha (Richard) Heuer, both of Two Rivers; Monica (Jay) Benedict, Mesa, AZ; seven step grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruby Voss, Beaver Dam; and Alyce Pinnola, Kenosha; sisters-in-law, Leora Drews, Randolph; Ann Drews, Louisiana; Dolores Firari, Juneau; Marguerite (Robert) Seiler, Neenah; Brother-in-law, Al (Shirley) Toellner, Mayville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her first husband; parents; three sisters, Irene Udell, Dorothy Gibson, and Adeline Maersch; five brothers, Raymond, Martin, Fred, Donald and Delmer Drews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison Street, Waupun with the Rev. Kennneth Loehrke officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 21, 2008 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
