Doris Danice Whalen, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
Doris was born April 28, 1933 in West Van Lear, Kentucky the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Robinson) Hall. She grew up in Fond du Lac and attended area schools and was a graduate of Fond du Lac High School. On December 26, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to her beloved husband, James Whalen. Doris and James moved to the Randolph area were she was a loving and devoted homemaker, and an admissions clerk at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital for 15 years. Doris loved being with her family, spending time with her sisters, and traveling. Europe, Africa, Asia, the South Pacific and the USA were places which Doris was able to tour extensively, always traveling first class, because her son James worked for United Airlines. Mom was a great judge of character, and gave us all excellent advice, even if we chose not to heed it! Doris was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Fox Lake.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, James of fifty-four years, three children, Dennis (Jann) Whalen of Loveland, CO; James Patrick Whalen of Los Angeles, CA; Danice (James) Herald, Green Bay, WI; two granddaughters, Dana Leigh Whalen, Loveland, CO; and Dawn (Shawn) Bryant, Tyler, TX; four great-grandchildren, Leigh Anne Whalen; Reed, James and Aubriella Bryant. She is further survived by four siblings, Robert (Doty) Hall, of Eugene, OR; Joyce (Ken) Hills, and John Hall, both of Fond du Lac; and Sharon (Matt) Rimmer, of Clinton, IA; many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sue Stilletti.
