Dorothy Rena Eisenga, age 90 of Randolph, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from the Golden Years Senior Living in Randolph.
Dorothy was born on July 30, 1917 in Sheldon, Iowa, a daughter to John and Carrie (Heynen) Voortman. On December 20, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clarence Eisenga in Kanawha, Iowa. Dorothy joined her husband on the farm near Friesland where she enjoyed being a homemaker. She also touched many lives as a teacher for the Randolph Christian School for over thirty years. Dorothy was a longtime member of the First Christian Reformed Church in East Friesland where she was active in the Martha Circle, and also used her teaching skills as a Bible Study Leader. Her gift of hospitality was extended to many over the years. She took great delight in visiting with family and spending time with friends, and looked forward to weekly games of Rook. Her treasured gifts of crocheted afghans will be enjoyed for many years by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by six children, Winifred (Darvin) Cupery, Randolph; Carol (Jerry) Veenhuis, Brookfield; Phyllis (Dan) Mulder, Bozeman, MT; George (Laurie) Eisenga, Fox Lake; Mary (Jim) Rasmus, Colorado Springs, CO; Doris (Bruce) Mulder, Beloit; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grada Rietema, Holland, MI; and Evelyn (Auke) Douma, Randolph; two brothers, Rev. Sy (Marty) Voortman, Grand Rapids, MI; and John (Liz) Voortman, La Grange, IL; her sister-in-law, Julia Stiemsma, Randolph; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in March of 1999; her parents; a sister, Cora Mae Eisenga; an infant son George; and infant great-granddaughter Nicole Veenhuis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the First Christian Reformed Church, N8876 East Friesland Road, Randolph with David Cupery officiating. Burial will follow in the Friesland Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 South High Street, Randolph, and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Dorothy's name for the Randolph Christian School, 457 Second Street, Randolph WI 53956.
