Josie Leystra, age 88 of Randolph, entered her eternal home on Monday, September 8, 2008 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor in Randolph.
Josie was born on December 20, 1919 in Green Lake County, the daughter of Carl and Agnes (Oostra) Stiemsma. She was united in marriage to Charles Leystra on September 28, 1938, and they were farmers in the Randolph and Cambria area. They enjoyed traveling together and had many fond memories of trips with relatives and friends. Josie enjoyed maintaining her flower gardens, and also loved crocheting afghans. She was a lifetime member of the First Randolph Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Martha Circle.
Josie is survived by her son, Alan and his wife Carol Leystra of Randolph; five grandchildren, Bonnie (Michael) Goetz, Beaver Dam; Dale Leystra, Cambria; Robert A. (Michelle) Leystra, Markesan; Pam (Larry H.) DeVries, Randolph; Todd A. (Sarah) Leystra, Randolph; ten great-grandchildren, James, Michael, Stacey, Hannah Leystra; Elizabeth, Jordan, Brandyn DeVries; Nathan, Nicholas, Rebecca Leystra; her sister, Jeanette Bos, Waupun; her brother, Ronald Stiemsma, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1996; her parents; two brothers, Jack and Ervin; and a sister Ann Fischer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at First Christian Reformed Church, N8876 East Friesland Road, Randolph, WI, with the Rev. Kenneth Prol officiating. Burial will follow in the Friesland Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and visitors on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Josie’s name.
