Philip Edward Biel, age 83 of Randolph, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on Sunday, December 30, 2007, surrounded by his loving family.
Philip was born on April 27, 1924 in Randolph, a son to Edward and Sophie (Straseskie) Biel. On June 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elaine Miller. Philip will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He farmed for fifty-six years, and was awarded the Outstanding Conservation Award for Dodge County, and numerous 200 bushels of corn per acre awards. While engaged in farming, Philip was also employed at Busse Brothers for twenty-seven years. He loved to attend his children and grandchildren’s athletic events. He also enjoyed taking care of his cats, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish, The Knights of Columbus, and the Golden Boys Club of HoChunk.
Philip is survived by Elaine, his wife of sixty years; five children, Linda Biel, Beaver Dam; Nancy Gove; Faye (Oscar) Oosterhouse; Geno (Kris) Biel, all of Randolph; and Mark (Margie) Biel, of Ellsworth. He is further survived by ten grandchildren, Marie (Kevin) Lotto; Mary Meyer; Brian (Heather) Gove; Gary (Tammy) Gove; Jaclyn Oosterhouse; Michelle (Mark) Dreger; Michael Biel; Steven Biel; Victoria Biel; and William Biel; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Emma, and Ava Gove; his brother, Vernon Biel, Randolph; and two sisters, Mary Biel, Randolph: and Helen (Don) Hensler, Las Vegas, NV. Philip was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Bernard.
“To love is to receive a glimpse of heaven” Philip now has a spectacular view from all directions. Continue to watch over us, Dad. We love you and we miss you.
